This is a demonstration build. The loans, borrowers, repayment records and arbitration cases on this site are fixtures created to demonstrate the product. They describe real projects and real companies where named, but the loans themselves have not been written and no capital has been lent. Nothing here is an offer, a solicitation, or a contract.
1. What BitBacker is
BitBacker is a platform that introduces lenders to borrowers and administers loans between them. It is not a party to those loans, not a bank, and not a deposit-taking institution. It does not guarantee repayment and does not underwrite any loan on the platform.
2. Eligibility
You must be legally capable of entering a loan agreement in your jurisdiction. Lending may not be permitted where you are; that is your responsibility to establish, not ours to assume.
3. Your wallet and your keys
Identity on BitBacker comes from a wallet you control. We never receive, store or have any means of recovering a private key. If you lose access to your wallet we cannot restore your positions to a new one, and no support process exists that could.
4. Lending
A position, once opened, is committed for the term of the loan. There is no early redemption as of right. Positions may be listed for transfer; BitBacker does not guarantee a counterparty and takes no responsibility for the absence of one.
5. Credit notes
Credit notes and grades are the opinion of the named reviewer at the date of the note. They are not advice, not a recommendation, and not a statement of fact about the borrower’s future. Reviewers have been wrong on this platform and the record of that stays published.
6. Default and arbitration
Where a borrower defaults, BitBacker convenes arbitration and enforces security it holds on lenders’ behalf. The outcome of a lender vote binds the platform and every lender on the loan, including those who voted against it and those who abstained.
7. Fees
As set out on the fees page. Fees may change for new loans; they never change for a loan already listed.
8. Content you post
Updates, chat messages and case evidence are visible to the audience described where you post them, and case evidence cannot be withdrawn. Do not post anything you are not able to stand behind permanently.
9. Liability
BitBacker is provided as it stands. To the extent the law allows, we exclude liability for losses arising from a borrower’s failure to repay, from a credit note that proved wrong, from the price of BSV, and from any inability to exit a position before maturity.
10. Changes
We may change these terms. Material changes are announced in the newsroom before they take effect.
