GorillaPool: usernames nobody can take back
Repaid. Capacity for a payment name system that mints usernames by proof of work rather than through a registry.

Every payment handle you have ever had belongs to somebody else. A registry issues it, a registry can revoke it, and the terms under which that happens are whatever the registry says they are this year. GorillaPool mints names by proof of work instead: no administrator, nobody to appeal to, and nobody who can take one back.
Shown at the Texas hackathon and running in public since. About thirty-one thousand names minted, and the interesting number is the second one: zero revoked, because there is no mechanism to revoke.
