Git-Sats: bounties that pay themselves out
Scaling the GitHub bounty escrow that won Austin: overlay infrastructure, a hosted tier, and the audit two enterprise customers are waiting on.
Scaling the GitHub bounty escrow that won Austin: overlay infrastructure, a hosted tier, and the audit two enterprise customers are waiting on.
A bounty on an open-source issue is a promise, and promises on the internet are worth what the person making them decides later. Git-Sats attaches the money to the issue and holds it in escrow until a pull request closes it, at which point the payment moves without anyone approving it. Ishan Lahoti built it at the Texas hackathon and won.
It has been running publicly since, on Metanet Desktop and the BSV SDK overlay services, and has settled a little over 4,100 bounties. Two companies now want to run it internally against private repositories, which needs a hosted tier, an SLA, and a security audit neither will proceed without.
The loan funds all three. It is repaid quarterly from platform fees and the two hosted contracts.
Running in public since the hackathon, with the escrow releasing automatically each time.
Both are signed subject to a clean third-party security review, which this loan pays for.
Payments match how platform fees actually arrive, rather than forcing a monthly rhythm onto a lumpy stream.

Live product, real usage, and a loan that buys a specific unlock rather than general runway. The audit is the binary.
I like loans where the proceeds buy one thing that either happens or does not, because the risk is legible. Here it is a security audit that two signed-subject-to contracts are waiting on.
Volume history is genuinely useful: 4,100 settled bounties is enough to see the seasonality, and the quarterly schedule was set against it rather than against a calendar. That is unusually careful for a company this size.
The overlay dependency is the piece I would want watched. It is not currently priced.

Bounties attached to GitHub issues and held in escrow until a pull request closes the issue, at which point the money moves on its own. Built on Metanet Desktop and the BSV SDK overlay services. First place at the Texas hackathon.

Bounty volume swings with the open-source funding cycle. Two of the eight quarterly payments fall in historically thin quarters.
A finding serious enough to require rearchitecting would delay both enterprise contracts past the term.
The escrow release path depends on infrastructure the company does not operate.
Collateral coverage

$25,000 of security against $6,674 still outstanding. The line is one times.
How it was marked. Platform fee stream at 20 months of trailing average less 30%. Hosted-tier contracts at 80%, both signed and both terminable annually. Marked Nov 24, 2025 by Abhi Sridharan.
A mark on a date, not a valuation and not a promise. Nothing here can be sold at 3am: enforcing a charge over stock or receivables takes months, costs money, and recovers less than the figure above.
This loan is drawn in BSV. Move the price.
Git-Sats owes BSV and earns in ordinary money. You hold a claim on BSV and think in dollars. The same move helps one of you and hurts the other.
unchanged from today
the schedule as written
The coupon is not on either side of this: it was fixed in dollars at drawdown and a move in the price does not touch it. Arithmetic on a figure you chose, not a forecast.
A missed instalment moves the loan to late. If it is not cured or restructured by the next due date it moves to default and arbitration opens automatically. Every lender with a position can read the case file, add evidence and vote on the recovery route, weighted by principal.
How arbitration worksAll three medium findings closed and re-tested. None touched the public escrow path: they were in the hosted tier, which is new code. Both enterprise customers have seen the remediation summary and neither has asked for anything further.
Fieldwork wrapped last week. Three medium findings, no highs, all three in the hosted tier rather than the public escrow path. Remediation is a fortnight of work. Report expected mid-September.

Every live loan has a room where lenders and the borrower talk. Anyone can read it; anyone holding a position can post. The thread above is the public one and stays public.

Principal is repaid in BSV; the coupon is paid in MNEE, so an instalment has two amounts in two units and no meaningful sum. Every settled instalment carries the transaction that paid it.
